moonlight, no stars, only black.  She walked along the wall until she came to the door.  Outside, lightning divided the dark.  Thunder rattled the walls. 

A flickering light came from the next room.  Her Grandfather Chi held a samurai sword on upturned palms.  He bowed before the Buddhas and talked to his father, and grandfather, and great-grandfather, and to his son who had fallen in Manchuria.
